About the Event
Join Us for a Soul-filled Juneteenth Shabbat Service featuring the incomparable Brother Dennis Slaughter leading us in song and prayer, followed by festive oneg.
Brother Dennis is one of the region’s most visible and enthusiastic leaders of gospel music. A longtime educator, Slaughter, 57, earned a degree in music from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his master’s degree in education administration and policy studies from Boston University and his doctoral degree in law and policy from Northeastern University. In addition to being artistic director of the the Boston Pops Gospel Choir, Slaughter is founding director of Boston Community Gospel Choir and director of music at Milton’s Parkway United Methodist Church.
